* Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye    The  24th product of the week, is Ijoko Rimi, says tourism icon, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye. Though it may appear similar to last week’s presentation of is (Simi Rimi), it has distinct features that provides a complete different water experience from last week’s tourism product.   ‘Ijoko Rimi’ according to him, is a Yoruba term that means ‘sit on water’. Once again, this item is produced locally from wood and recycled vegetable oil  kegs. From Ghana With Fishing Love For Nigerian Community.

Humanity is special. It knows no barriers. It has no colour, religion or political affiliation. It does not give interpretation to political philosophies neither does it give it consideration. Humanity has no apology for hypothetical theories, except humility and love for mankind. The love for humanity, is more real, in the coastal fishing communities of Ibeju-Lekki, in Lagos, Nigeria. The seat of government ofcourse is at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos and the federal government is controlled from chamber houses and political halls and corridors at the federal capital territory in Abuja. Here in the coastal communities, the presence of federal, state and local governments are here, the military, the navy, policemen and so on. Security in this area is top notch. Moreso with the federal and state interest in the development of the area, especially the free trade zone. But the lifestyle of the locals is exceptionally very traditional, devoid of the esthetics of the cosmopolitan norms and expectati...

Elaborating on this, Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye disclosed that, the abundance of water features in Nigeria (rivers, lagoons, lakes and ponds), it becomes inevitable that Nigeria’s tourism offerings would include water sports. He then went on to speak about ‘Simi Rimi’ which is a Yoruba term that means, ‘to rest or relax on water’. This item is a locally produced apparatus that falls into the category of water sports equipment. Equipments such as kayaks, hydro bikes, canoes surf boards and speed boats, which we normally think about when we think of ‘water sports’ and which, because they are usually imported, may be expensive to purchase. Simi Rimi which resembles a floating canopy bed, is eco – friendly and constructed of material that is locally sourced. The floaters that keep it suspended on top of the water are recycled vegetable oil plastic kegs while its bed frame is ma...
